Viability assessment for the German start-up grant.
If you receive unemployment benefit in Germany and want to apply for the start-up grant (Gründungszuschuss), the employment agency asks for an expert statement confirming that your business is viable. We assess your plan and tell you honestly whether it is ready.
- €79incl. VAT
- €469together with a business plan review
- Honesteven if the answer is “not yet”
Before you start
We only issue a positive statement if your plan passes the assessment, so we cannot guarantee one. Whether you receive the start-up grant is decided solely by the employment agency; it is a discretionary benefit.
What the statement is.
The Tragfähigkeitsbescheinigung, formally an expert statement on the viability of a business start-up (fachkundige Stellungnahme), confirms that your planned business is likely to provide a sustainable living. Chambers of commerce, chambers of crafts, tax advisers, banks and start-up consultants are among the bodies that may issue it.
It is usually written in German, because it is submitted to the German employment agency. You can discuss your plan with us in English. The current conditions for the grant are published by the Federal Employment Agency (opens in a new tab).

Frequently asked questions
Who needs a viability statement?
Mainly people who receive unemployment benefit (Arbeitslosengeld) and apply for the start-up grant. Job centres may also ask for an assessment for other start-up support.
Will I definitely get a positive statement?
No. We confirm only what we can stand behind after the assessment. If there are gaps, we tell you exactly what to fix.
Can I submit an English business plan?
Check with your employment agency. Many expect German documents; we can help you prepare a German version.
